From the owner of two other long term owned Harley bikes we have sold, this 1978 Harley-Davidson FLH has served it’s owner without failure over the decades due to strict service and upkeep over the years. It was counted on to start and go where ever it was called upon. Many long distance trips and rides in the LA area with Motorcycle “Clubs” are under the seat here.
The move to Southern Oregon about ten years ago had the bike put in the back of the garage with the other two bikes. It took that long to accept that riding was being let go in favor of settling down to gardening and hanging around the homestead was the choice.
The engine has about 3,000 miles on a rebuild done at Casey’s Cycle in San Fernando Valley. It was stroked to 98 cubic inches, the heads ported and polished backed up by matching cams capped by an S&S Shorty Carb. There was no budget, it was just done, the bike was part of a life style since left behind. The wheels were laced with Twisted Spokes, Performance Machine Calipers and Rotors installed and paint applied.
Before it was brought to the shop for sale, it was taken to Redwood Cycle for recommissioning to make it safe and roadworthy for the next rider. It is ready to go, a Style of bike that is no longer being built, a throw back to a different time. The “1957 210 Belair” of motorcycles so to speak.
