2014 was the introduction of the Rushmore Project Bikes, a smoother and more powerful Street Glide was the end result. The Street Glide has always been Harley’s most popular selling model and there were improvements across the board.
Our 2014 Harley Davidson FLHXS Street Glide Special with the “HO” 103 cubic Inch motor also came with the 6-Speed Transmission. The stock engine that year had improved air box and cam timing, giving a bit more power. The big change was the front end which got larger diameter fork tubes for better comfort and control. On the Special, which is our bike, Linked Brakes with ABS were standard amongst other items. The big feature in the “passenger area” was the improved and sophisticated information and sound system accompanied by the larger color display screen. While picking the bike up from S&D Custom Cycle here in Grants Pass, Steve had to help me turn the stereo off. It has so many features, it is going to take a bit to get use too, probably a long evening with the owner’s manual. All of can be controlled through the hard wired communication system.
Speaking of service. It was recently taken to S&D was for a complete 15,000 mile service and inspection. The bike is being sold by the estate of the former owner and so had not been ridden this season. They wanted to be assured the bike was safe and ready for travel before we offered it for sale and the receipt from S&D is attached in our images, less than one mile ago. Add gas and a destination, you are set to go.
