A long time customer called the other day about his motorcycle fleet. He was giving it up because of recent surgery and asked if we could find a home for his 2003 BMW F650GS Paris Dakar dual sport.
The neat design of these bikes over the standard GS was longer travel suspension, a 21 inch front wheel instead of the normal 19 inch, more fender protection and the neat Dakar Paint scheme. All G650GS’s features the fuel tank under the seat (you can see the fuel cap on the right side above the saddle bag), ABS Brakes, a Fuel Injected Single that was state of the art when designed by Rotax and built by Aprilia and BMW’s expanding Saddle bags that almost double in volume by releasing tabs inside the bag. The owner added thermostatically controlled heated grips with the switch on the left handle bar and a power lead in the handle bar area for a GPS or Radar Detector. Tires have about 500 miles on them and the steering head bearings were replaced earlier this year.
