We have a long time customer who purchased this 1982 Mercedes 380SL Hard Top Convertible 7 years ago as her summer time driver. In the 7 years she owned it, it probably covered less then 3,000 miles. It did require repairs along the way, the AC, Master Brake Cylinder, Cooling System, Power Steering Pump, Injectors and more. The problem was that it sat not being used.
Recently it was decided to sell the car. Upon inspection, we found the front brakes were not working, one of the calipers was leaking. The AC needed a charge and the odometer was not working even though the speedometer was. A choice was made to sell the car as is. The estimate for the front brakes, including brake lines, a caliper and pads was about $500 from a local shop.
The car is being sold for parts, not as a roadworthy car and at the time of sale, must be towed or transported from Automania. It cannot be driven on public or private roads, it is not safe at this time. The car starts well, shifts gears normally for an older Mercedes (the cigarette transmission), has great tires, is straight with no impact damage showing. The hardtop has not been off in 7 years, but there is normally a convertible top underneath the hard when it has been removed.
