A close friend suffered a late “mid-life crisis” about a year ago and purchased this gorgeous, Guards Red, 6 Speed Manual Transmission 2009 Porsche Carrera in Washington State with the enthusiasm I could only wish for with any customer. This was a present to himself for having survived all of these years successfully and well deserved. You have rarely seen a smile so wide.
Fast forward a year later and bloom is off the rose. Being just a bit younger than dirt, getting in and out of a sports car for him and the missus has reminded them both of tightening muscles and sore hips. Less then 2000 miles later we were asked to help find a new home for the apogee of his car ownership career, the ultimate gift to himself, his prized Porsche 911.
The 2009 911 was similar to the prior year model but with important technological changes mostly centered around the upgraded Traction Control and ABS systems interacting not only to control lost traction situations, but as driver aids to enhance handling and control. Welcome to the world and benefits of real time sophisticated electronics and this is just the chassis!
Driving the car, it felt as close to new as is possible with just over 43,000 miles showing. It came factory equipped with Black Leather, Heated Front Seats, Leather Sport Steering Wheel, Fire Extinguisher, Floor Mats in the interior color, This Gen-Six evolution of the 911 line (model 997) retains the classic original 911’s fluid looks that makes a Porsche 911 one of the most easily recognized cars in the world. Recent service included an oil change and replacing both Oxygen Sensors which seems to be common as we had the same experience with the 2002 Turbo we sold recently. The transmission and clutch were excellent, the car pulled strongly and the radio was outstanding. A CAR FAX was pulled just before it was purchased last year and it showed no accidents or issues.
