My buddy Dave had a very late spring cleaning event at his shop this fall prompted by his wife being unable to park her car near the house due to the numerous Model A’s and trucks in Dave’s unseemly collection. So Dave started bringing them all down to the shop (Automania LLC) as he thought they would not be noticed next to our building. Well, it did not work out the way he planned.
Everything that Dave brought down I sold.
Earlier this week he brought down his 1955 Ford F100, a truck that has been local for many decades, in fact once used by the Herman Berman Band here in GP. Dave has had it for many years behind his shop, resting, waiting for the right time to Hot Rod it. The truck was absolutely stock with the 6-Cylinder engine, 3 on the Tree Manual Transmission (Millennial Theft Proof) and an incredibly sound body. I took a bunch of images top and bottom as you can see on the site.
As I was coming back from taking pictures, it stopped running. It had gas and the float bowl was full. The ignition seems weak and it is pretty impossible to get started cold at this point. The radiator or the water pump is leaking pretty hard from sitting all these years. But, the brakes work normally and the bench seat was just redone by Greg’s Upholstery.
At this time it is definitely a challenge to keep running. Dave is absolutely no use and I cannot work on stuff.
If you are looking for a solid foundation for building a project, the truck is it. If you are up for tinkering with an old truck and sorting out mechanical issues, it is the prefect truck. The ’55 will be sold as is with a good Oregon title.
