1948 Oldsmobile Price: $22,995 USD - SOLD (No Longer Available)
Part of consigning collectable and interesting cars is, once in a while, the car is part of someone’s last few years of enjoyment and an estate is now being settled. This 1948 Oldsmobile is a reminder of the joy and passing of a car enthusiast who spent his time and money doing what he loved.
The estate provided a folder with bills of sale, receipts and invoices for work that was done after it’s purchase. In 2021 the Olds was purchased for $25,000 and shipped cross country. Upon it’s arrival it was discovered that there were serious mechanical issues that had not been disclosed but because of timing and illness it gave the new owner purpose and pleasure working towards having the car he thought he had bought.
Looking to local repair shops, the engine was rebuilt along with the transmission. Disk brakes were added and Vintage Air was partially installed. The receipts and invoices from Blueline Automotive, Ammco Transmissions and Sauer’s Machine here in the valley show approximately another $28,000 spent in the past four years working towards the vision of the owner in his declining time. From day one the invoices and bills are included with the car show a total of almost $63,000 was spent during the four years of ownership. His family is satisfied, He did what he wanted with the time allotted. It gave him pleasure, after all what else could they have hoped for.
Despite the work and money spent there are still minor projects that waited. The AC was never installed, there are fittings that need attention, a few wires that need connecting, the normal things why folks love building cars but the owner simply ran out of time.
