My buddy Dave once owned a successful large body shop here in the Valley. When it came to customizing his own vehicles whether it his Dodge 2500 or this KTM, he always checked all of the boxes for the best of the best when making them his own fit. It has given me pleasure to point out how life has changed since the shop sold a couple of years ago!
But the sale occurred a year or two after the purchase of his 2017 KTM 1090 Adventure R. Dave went at in the usual manner, working from a decade of owning KTM Adventure bikes. The 1090 R was 22 pounds lighter than the 1290 R he traded in and from his experience with it, he knew what worked and did not.

If you are looking at out fitting a motorcycle for the ultimate dual sport ride, be it Alaska or taking on the Oregon BDR, this is a whole bunch better of a choice, the work has been done and the bike is ready. Just add gas and your next adventure.
