My buddy Jay and I have been riding together since 1975 and it is fair to say I have noticed his hyper-focus on motorcycles that caused a great deal of entertainment. This week he brought two bikes in, this one which is a 2021 Yamaha XT250 with 228 miles on it from new which reminded me of years past.
During the Pandemic, Jay became glued to his computer listening to every Dual Sport Guru and Backwoods Entrepreneur pedaling expert advice on the correct motorcycle to buy and what issues the factories had built into them. He needed one motorcycle for himself and one for his significant other, the XT250. The end of the world was coming and they needed to be ready to head for the hills. He headed to Reno, Nevada and bought two motorcycles.
He added trick Mirrors and Hand Guards to the XT. He added a luggage rack and support for soft bags. The seat looks too comfortable to be stock but I did not see a tag on it. Well, the pandemic was finally over, the world did not come to an end and the motorcycles hardly left the garage with almost no miles on the Yamaha, just 228.
The fuel was drained from the bikes while they were stored but it still needed a new battery, which was just installed. Fresh fuel was added the bike started instantly (thank goodness for Fuel Injection). The original tires have almost no wear showing. The bike weights 291 pounds, has a seat height of 31 inches and gets 76mph with a top speed of between 75-80mph.
