Since my first incredibly impressive ride on a K1600 at Virginia International Raceway twelve years ago, BMW has improved the K Bike slightly better every year since. As part of that evolution, new platforms and models were added which now brings us to the 2022 BMW K1600 Grand America in our shop.
What a revolution in motorcycling. Electronics have redefined the mechanical experience of the engine, transmission, suspension and braking system. It is a totally reinvented motorcycle. Added are the personal interfaces with the motorcycle added by Blue Tooth and the accessories that follow.
The base new motorcycle was about $28,000. For the extra $5,200, the Grand America Package has BMW’s Gear Shift Assist Pro allowing clutchless shifting, a Top Case with Passenger Backrest and a myriad of options including Reverse that BMW is best at listing. Simply said, the assumption I am making is that if you are looking for the GA package you are more informed than I. Thanks for letting me off the hook but allowing the math of the asking price of $33,000 when new.
Our bike is almost cosmetically new as well as it should be with 394 miles showing. The owner misjudged his aging riding evolving station in life and very quickly found the motorcycle overwhelming. Most of the miles were added by another rider with about 20 added by our consigner. Best be careful of what you wish for!
