Once in awhile I present a motorcycle that has a story bigger then just the year and miles showing on the odometer. The owner of this particular bike encompassed the word “motorcyclist” as you see defined in the dictionary. When medical berms finally brought his riding career to an end last year it took another twelve months of introspection and acceptance before his bikes were brought to the shop.

This 2008 BMW R1200GS was purchased new at West Valley Cycle Sales BMW, one of the oldest, family owned original BMW dealers in the State of California. The original buyer, our customer chose them because of it being a mom and pop store and supported them the best he could with the purchase of many motorcycles, regular and routine services plus farkle for his GS.

Accompanying the GS is a thick, chronologically sorted binder starting with the original packing slip, showroom hanger BMW sales brochure. Next are the factory recall slips, receipts for the oversized Jesse Hard Bags, Bill Mayer Saddle, pages upon pages of oil changes and normal service work completed, Tires purchased and installed, more service, more tires, a Yacugar Rear Shock bought from the BeemerShop at 43,011 miles, more recalls, more oil changes, more tires until 65,049 when Hansen’s BMW rebuilt the Transmission and replaced the clutch assembly. One of the last receipts were for an oil change, alternator belt and a set of Heidenau Tires at 68,510 miles. A new battery was just installed at 69,512 miles.

Accessories that were added to the GS were the over-size Jesse Hard Saddle Bags, the Bill Mayer Saddle, Yacugar rear Shock, Weiser 2-IN-1 Front blinkers and Running Lights, Weiser 2-IN-1 Rear blinkers and Brake Lights. There is also a front Windscreen Extension, Engine Crash Guards, Upper Body Crash Bars and Driving Lights. There are probably more other items I missed you will see in the images.
