Once in awhile I present a motorcycle that has a story bigger then just the year and miles showing on the odometer. The owner of this particular bike encompassed the word “motorcyclist” as you see defined in the dictionary. When medical berms finally brought his riding career to an end last year it took another twelve months of introspection and acceptance before his bikes were brought to the shop.

This 2013 K1600GT was purchased new at BMW Motorcycles of Ventura for a sale price just short of $23,000. The original bill of sale and delivery documents are included in a thick binder which has records of every oil change, every warranty repair and recall and every tire from day one. The owner’s manual and all of the BMW promotional material were kept along with the extensive service records.

At about 7,600 miles the K1600 moved to southern Oregon and Hansen’s BMW took over upkeep, again with all of the service records included with the bike. About 17,000 miles, a set of Wunderlich Engine Guards were installed along with the rear Luggage Guards. Regular service followed that included replacement of tires as needed. A set of Driving Lights were installed and wired by Hansen’s at about 21,000 miles. The water pump was replaced at about 22,000 miles along with the regular service by Hansen’s. The Fuel Pump recall was completed, again all of the warranty paperwork is included. Front and rear tires are brand new and have no miles on them.

The K600GT is the sporting version of the K1600GTL which we have had in stock and drove. The GTL was a great package, but the GT version adds the words “fun to ride” to the driving equation that the GTL is compromised by it’s goals not to meet. What an amazing engine, a glorious sound from the exhaust and incredible magic carpet ride at speed. The sense of speed disappears on the interstate, the downside coming from being cited for exceeding speed limits while completely unaware.
