2006 Chevrolet Corvette ZO6
Price: $37,975 USD - SOLD (No Longer Available)
The endless conversation of recent days has been with the general collectable car market with a varying degree of diminishing values or what cars or models are holding even or possibly appreciating in the near future and beyond. It is safe to say that the C6 Corvette in general has been bruised in value the past couple of years with the some exceptions. Many “industry experts” see the 2006 model year of the Z06 as and beyond as buy and hold models for a modern collection.
The C6 Corvette was released as a 2005 model powered by the small block V8. 2006 Chevrolet increased the LS7 displacement to a 7.0 Liter (427) that was the most powerful GM small block until 2021. In addition to the larger displacement engine, the Corvette Z06 has a dry sump oiling system, and connecting rods made out of titanium. The frame of the Z06 was also constructed from aluminum, a saving of 136 lb. Chevy beefed up the rear axle, the six-speed manual transmission, and the clutch, and installed wider wheels and larger brakes. The idea was to create a robust platform that could deal with the stresses and heat of the big motor. Because of this coolers were added for every fluid except brake fluid and along with an enlarged the radiator.
The Z06 package included:
• Hand-built LS7 V8 with dry sump oiling system
• Aluminum chassis with fixed roof (136 lbs less)
• Larger/stiffer anti-sway bars
• Stiffer springs and shocks
• Larger rear spoiler and front splitter
• Transmission cooler
• Unique front fascia with intake inlet
• Wider carbon fiber front and fiberglass rear fenders
• Functional front and rear brake ducts for added brake system cooling
• Unique light weight forged aluminum 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels; painted finish standard and chromed finish optional
• Wider 275/35ZR18 tires in the front and wider 325/30ZR19 tires in the rear
• Larger 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers, including cross-drilled 355 mm (14.0 in) front rotors and 340 mm (13 in) rear rotors
This 2006 Z06 was always adult owned and with the current owner for 14 years. As with many of us, entering and exiting a Corvette at this stage gracefully has become a chore. In his late 70’s the owner has accepted that it will not be getting easier as time goes on and decided to have us sell the car.
