1978 Chevrolet El Camino 450hp

VIN #: 1W80U8Z479265
Stock #: 1840
This is a 1978 Chevrolet El Camino, which is the simple part. But what you are looking at is really is a build done from the most specific mechanical points of view that I have come across in 20 of doing consignment sales.

The owner was older in life when a substantial inheritance was bestowed upon him. The life before that had been living in a cheap motel, fishing, living frugally on a very unhealthy diet purchased from the convince store within walking distance for over a decade. He did not change his life style, but he did buy the car of his dreams, a red 1978 Chevrolet El Camino.

The car was bought for $20,000 locally and driven almost instantly to a local repair and speed shop with his vision of maximum power and noise. The next three years were spent breaking parts mechanically down stream, replacing them with ultimate street parts and proceeding on to the next weak link until the car was finished. And then he passed. His estate has had an appraisal made (partially scanned and on the site) and it was consigned to be sold.

It comes with $118,000 of mechanical receipts all done within the past three years that are posted on our site. It was reported to have been dynoed with 450hp at the rear wheels. The interior was custom made as there are few suppliers supporting the final iteration of the El Camino, built on the new A-body platform. Again it was told to me that the cost was over $12,200 and there is an invoice for that amount.

The body is pretty good, the paint has minor blemishes but there is a minor rust blister on the passenger door on the front, lower corner. Tires appear to be new but what should be paid attention to is the drive train and underside of the car. There are 28 pages of receipts and for specific questions, please refer to them.

The high points are:
1. Wilwood Front Brakes
2. Summit Racing TCI 4L60E Transmission, TCI Torque Converter
3. 9” 3.89 Rear Axle Quick Performance Conversion Kit
4. Summit Racing full QA1 Suspension
5. Summit Racing Fuel Tank
6. Redhead 18507 Steering Box
7. Engine Build, $10,987.00
8. Supercharger and Billet Belt Conversion
9. Holley Sniper EFT Kit, Pressure Regulator, Distributor, Intake Manifold
10. Custom Interior
11. Very large and loud Stereo
12. Electric Exhaust Cutout controlled by switch on dash
13. Spare tire mounted in bed of truck

For more specifics, please go over the scanned invoices, this is as good as I can with what I understand. Thanks for being patient.
