1998 Chevrolet K1500 Silverado Z71 4X4
Price: $16,995 USD - SOLD (No Longer Available)
This 1998 Chevrolet K1500 Silverado Z71 4X4 has been in Grants Pass almost since day one. The owner’s family recently brought it by for help finding a new owner. It is believed a '77 K10 was traded in for this with a local dealer in 2000 or 2001, about the time of retirement and he may have been the second owner. He loved this truck and vowed never to get rid of it, which was true. He had it until he passed in 2023.
He had the local Les Schwab install the lift, wheels and tires shortly after purchase because he liked the look. Mom and Dad always had small travel trailers and they loved to hunt and camp so it did a lot of that. They used mom's Camaro's for most regular trips and errands so the truck didn't get a lot of use. After he passed, Mom wanted to keep it around because there were a lot of pleasant memories in it so it was checked over for proper functionality so that she could continue driving it from time to time. New tires were purchased, a new steering box, front brake components, multiple upper engine gaskets replaced to address minor oil seepage, a new air conditioning pump installed, rear shocks, all were serviced or replaced within recent months.
It's been a few years now and it was decided to let it go (about less than 500 miles were put on it in the last two years) and it is time for someone else to enjoy it like the family did.
If anyone can argue that the Vortex V8 equipped GM line of trucks are not the most reliable, modern day truck around in the past 50 years, I would like to hear about it. In 1998 these were considered just another tool for construction, hauling loads, Boulevard Cruising in the Suburbs picking up kids or dragging a boat to the lake. Who would have thought we would be thinking of these as the best of the best in “vintage, collectable” trucks today.
Kelly Blue Book refers to them as:
“Among the 1682 owners who provided feedback on the 1998 Chevrolet 1500 Extended Cab for Kelley Blue Book, consumer sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with 95% recommending the vehicle. As a whole, consumers found the vehicle's reliability and comfort to be its strongest features. Value was considered to be its weakest feature, earning 4.6 out of 5 stars. 1162 out of 1682 of owners (69% of them) rank the 1998 1500 Extended Cab five out of five stars.
Compared to newer models, the 1998 K1500 is often cited as easier to repair due to its simpler design and lack of extensive emissions equipment. Some owners have reported over 250,000 t0 300,000 miles without serious issue.
The 1998 Chevrolet Silverado/Sierra K1500 is generally praised for its reliability, durability, and comfortable ride. Owners often highlight its longevity and ability to handle various tasks, from daily driving to hauling and off-roading. While some report minor issues like rust or component wear, many owners express satisfaction with their trucks, with some even stating they wouldn't trade them for newer models”
The only downside the truck to be found anywhere was rust issues and these are normally trucks from the rust belt or on the coast. This locally owned truck has never been subjected to either. Cosmetically it is outstanding with little signs of it’s 34 years. The Factory stickers on the bedsides are sun weathered but a new set was ordered a bit ago and come with the truck.
The selling price is $ 16,995. Miles are 146,237 and the VIN is 1GCEK19R4WE169554. For other interesting bikes and collectable vehicles, visit our web site http://www.automaniagp.com 541 479 8888 or come by and see us at 895 SE Gladiola Drive, Grants Pass, Oregon, 97526. Oregon Dealer DA1287.
