1967 Harley-Davidson FL Electra-Glide
Grants Pass, Oregon 97526
The world of collectable motorcycles started way before I got a driver’s license and began terrorizing the streets. In fact, this 1967 Harley-Davidson FL Electra-Glide was sold new that same year (that is something to wonder about…). Harley’s first electric starter bikes had two model years where they had both electric starting and a kick starter, 1966 and 1967. After that it was Electric Start only with 1967 being the only year of those two options with the Shovel Head motor.
We have documentation back to 1995 on the bike, showing it was sold to an owner who then took it to Harbor Vintage Motor Company in Jonesville, VT for a complete restoration ($14,000 in receipts). All of the work and parts are itemized that were completed at the time. The invoices from that time period are exacting and complete. The bottom end was built by S&S while the rest of the upper end and transmission were rebuilt by HVMCO. The rebuilt transmission is a close ratio set with helical gear. Andrew’s Cams supplied the cam (included is the spec sheet) and were installed with Velva-Touch Lifters following. There is a Crane Single Fire Coil Twin Power Ignition and one of the best Carbs available for the engine, a S&S “Shorty” Carburetor also added.
There were two other owners since that time (whom we have copies of their titles) before the bike came to Oregon several years ago. The engine is correct for the year and model of the bike with a case number 67FL1701. Just recently work was completed that included a new clutch, starter and starter housing which is shown in receipts. Three seats come with the bike as shown in the images, two Corbins and the stock saddle. The bike starts perfectly and is quite an experience to ride. Bikes were different then, but so were our expectations.
The selling price is $21,995. VIN# is 67FL1701 and miles showing are 12,632, most likely miles since the restoration was done in 1996.
