Harley-Davidson must have thought the 2014 “Project Rushmore” was pretty impressive as they lead the introduction with;
“When Harley-Davidson launched Project Rushmore for 2014, the customer-driven enhancement program was said to be the most extensive and important in the company’s 110-year history.”
Catches you off guard the scope of the changes they saw, but when I rode this 2015 Ultra Low Limited it felt just like almost every late model Harley I have ridden made after 2010. It is so much better, but it is still the “Bike” and nothing feels or looks like it. I do not miss the point of it being much improved and more powerful, but there is no mistaking what you are riding, a Harley Touring motorcycle.
The owner of this 2015 FLHTKL, Ultra Low Limited Grand Touring motorcycle had been thinking about this bike for a very long time. When he went into the Harley shop in 2015, there were no discounts, no moving on the selling price and $28,000 later he rode out with an Emerald Green version of the bike. This was going to be his last motorcycle ever. Forever comes in all sizes and lengths...
The 2015 Project Rushmore engine comes equipped with water cooled heads in the 103 configuration. It was described so well on line, I am going plagiarize Rider Magazine a bit.
“With its 6-gallon fuel tank, 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission with integrated Isolated Drive System and low-maintenance belt final drive, the Ultra Limited is ready to go the distance. And the ride is enhanced with Reflex Linked Brakes with ABS, the Boom! Box 6.5 GT Audio System with navigation, Daymaker LED headlight and fog lights, cruise control, heated grips, Smart Security System with hands-free fob, two power outlets, a luggage rack and luggage liners. Between the saddlebags and Tour-Pak trunk, total luggage capacity is 133 liters.”
