A good friend and long time customer had a very real life changing event happen a few months ago and his riding career has come to a close, at least for the time being. He was a serial motorcycle owner, going from one seat to another, living his past and present through the different bikes that eventually ended up crossing our shop floor. The one exception was this 2008 Harley Davidson Road King Police Edition FLHP that always remained no matter what the mood or style changes that occurred. It was always his go to bike, he loved to ride it best of all of them and it is the last to finally be sold.

The Police Edition offered the obvious accessories need for Law Enforcement, Lights, Sirens and Communications which were normally removed when the bikes were retired from Service. Other differences that reminded with the bikes were the 50-Amp Charging System, the specific new ABS Brake System which was more compact for sidecar compatibility and no saddlebag intrusion along with the newer Brembo Brakes, a 6 gallon Fuel Tank and what is referred to as a either a Pivot Police Saddle or Air Saddle. With the seat installed, the laden saddle height was 27.3 inches (with a rider sitting). There are of course the 100 year Anniversary Police model decals and badges that came from the factory.

Our particular bike has been regularly serviced at S&D Custom Cycle here in Grants Pass and is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition, the way all of our sellers vehicles are kept. S&D lowered the suspension 1” front and rear for the owner but when I rode it a bit to experience the bike, it was great. What a perch to see the scenery going by. A set of Rinehart Mufflers were installed and sound perfect, not too loud but with that unmistakable Harley sound.
