The first thing I noticed sitting on this 2013 Triumph Thruxton 900 was the natural riding position I fell into when I grabbed the handle bars and put my feet on the pegs. It felt like I had just come home, so to speak. It is sort of a gun fighter sitting crouch that would never work on a touring bike or cruiser, but one that you wished modern Sportbikes felt like when you rode them. Everything just fits. Being fuel injected, the bike has no running issues, starts instantly and is instantly an extension of your arms and legs. This is how a bike should feel. Added to the picture are the after market pipes installed when the bike was new. This bike defies you to leave it in the garage on a sunny day. I love it!
Specifications? It is an Air Cooled, 900cc Vertical Twin with a 5-Speed Gear Box. Over the years we have had half a dozen of the Bonneville twins come through the shop. They seem to run for ever. Fuel, tires, lube the chain, change the oil and there are years of great riding ahead. They seem bullet proof. All of that and the look that only Triumph has been able to capture after all of these years.
The bike was sold new by Hansen’s BMW/ Triumph of Medford and a couple of wonderful accessories were added to the bike after the first 600 mile service. Up front, a Triumph Dart Windscreen was added for wind protection along with a Locking Fuel Filler Cap also tops the Gas Tank now. Some minor modifications were made to the running gear which included a K&N Air Filter and a set of British Custom “Sleeper” Mufflers that are absolutely beautiful to listen to. They provide the classic sound of the British Twin but are not anxious at road speed. Hansen’s also down loaded the Factory Electronic Tune program to the motorcycle’s ECM and an injection block off kit to complete the upgrades. The package works incredibly well and reinstils the charm these bikes have had tuned out of them in the name of “Politically Correct” motorcycling we have been made to accept in recent times.
