Our first of the new model, water cooled Triumph Twins just rolled through the door. Water Cooled!! This 2016 Triumph Street Twin is what is called a traditionally style bike, but as a completely modern Motorcycle. The result is a bike with a reasonable seat height, good reach to higher handle bars and all of the goodies of current modern machines.

The engine was a new design for Triumph, moving away from the Air/Oil cooled motors of past. What was interesting to me cosmetically was that externally, the bike had a very similar appearance as the previous bike which wore it’s oil cooler in a similar mounting. I was unaware of the water cooling until I starting taking images. Great job!

So we have a Modern Classic, Fuel Injected, ABS Brakes, Traction Control, Electronic Ignition and last but not least, Ride by Wire Throttle control with all of the charm of what looks similar to a 1960’s Classic Twin. The new 900cc engine is referred to as the 900HT (High Torque) which is perfect for real life street riding, no one is looking to top one of these out on the road, but being able to not have switch gears unnecessarily with a great bottom end is an added safety factor for less aggressive riders. Combined with a light clutch pull and progressive single front disk brake, this is a great way to spend time in the saddle for newer and more relaxed riders.
