2012 Triumph Thruxton 900
The first thing I noticed sitting on a 2013 Triumph Thruxton 900 was the natural riding position I fell into when I grabbed the handle bars and put my feet on the pegs. It felt like I had just come home, so to speak. It is sort of a gun fighter sitting crouch that would never work on a touring bike or cruiser, but one that you wished modern Sportbikes felt like when you rode them. Everything just fits. Being fuel injected, the bike has no running issues, starts instantly and is instantly an extension of your arms and legs. This is how a bike should feel. This bike defies you to leave it in the garage on a sunny day.
Specifications? It is an Air Cooled, 900cc Vertical Twin with a 5-Speed Gear Box. Over the years we have had half a dozen of the Bonneville twins come through the shop. They seem to run for ever. Fuel, tires, lube the chain, change the oil and there are years of great riding ahead and they seem bullet proof. All of that and the look that only Triumph has been able to capture after all of these years.
Some minor modifications were made, a Gunfighter Style Seat, Billet Mirror, Rear Fender Eliminator and a set of Bassani Mufflers that are absolutely beautiful to listen to. They provide the classic sound of the British Twin but are not obnoxious at road speed. The package works incredibly well and instills the charm these bikes have had tuned out of them in the name of “Politically Correct” motorcycling we have been made to accept in recent times.
The bike has been serviced regularly at Hansen’s over the years with a complete tune-up completed just 60 miles ago including valve adjust, plugs, Brake Fluid Flush and a brand new Rear Bridgestone Tire.
