2013 Yamaha FJR1300A

Sounds a bit crazy but I bought a new FJ1100 from the local Grants Pass dealer in 1984, Sitting on this 2013 Yamaha FJR1300A sort of cuts the fog on what the FJ was like in the day, a similar stance and riding position, all cutting edge for the day for each bike, both with the same basic heritage and Yamaha style.
What set the bikes apart in the day was the power the in-line engine made, at least 25% more than comparable Sport Touring bikes. The FJR was equipped with Hard Bags, Adjustable Windscreen, Cruise and a full Electronic Menu but it was still the most powerful of all of them.
Which does not change what the bike is intended for, Touring. With a 6.6 gallon tank and the mentioned Cruise Control, this is a bike that covers a lot of space and quickly without too many stops. There is a serious Electronics’ Feature Menu that will need the owner’s manual to understand (which is included with the bike).
Our bike has managed to cover 13,139 miles, which is just beyond break-in with this engine. Cosmetically it is beautiful, tires are about 2500 miles old and oils were serviced recently according to the owner. There is a Givi Box Monokey Tail Trunk with built in backrest. Inside the Saddle Bags are removable liners which makes life so much easier when you arrive. There also a very nice Tank Bag that has sealed pouches on top for your phone or what ever you need to keep an eye on.
This could be a great two up bike, the chassis is long enough to support a full size saddle suited to two adults. Looking on line, there are legions of hard core believers in the FJR, they could not all be incorrect!
