We all know the worn out, and in truth fictitious, old wives’ tale about women and shopping. Not wanting to cause offense, I will let your memory banks fill in that blank. Well, my buddy Dave is that way with Boats, many, many boats. Ever since I met Dave decades ago, he has been looking for the perfect Boat. I was sure last year that he had finally found the right one, this 1985, 18 FT Valco Aluminum Fishing Boat in need of an interior. It had the look and was in really great shape. Well it was after Dave spent the best part of last fall making it brand new, adding a new, out of the box, Yamaha Out Board to it, stripping the trailer, adding a new Axle under it, Wheels, and Tires and painting it, that is.

Dave said it had the perfect look about it, the high bow, the ribbed sides and just needed attention to the interior to make it look brand new. So Dave used new sheets of DMO Board, replacing everything including the floors and seats, had new vinyl installed, had a custom built 17 Gallon Fuel Tank built and installed, added tons of storage with new hatches under the seats, a Brand new Garmin Fish Finder (still new in the box) and finally a brand new Yamaha F70 4-Stroke Outboard. It was the perfect boat!!! Off to Mexico for the winter…

The trip to Baja went really well, fishing was great and the boat was perfect, well, except in bigger swells, it moved around more than Dave’s wife liked. More length would fix that and as soon as Dave got home, he ordered a brand new 24 Foot Hull out of Texas that he is busy getting ready for this up coming winter trip. His latest finished product is now for sale.
