This 1971 BMW R/75 would not be here for sale if it were not for the closing of the best BMW Motorcycle Dealer in the country, Hansen’s BMW LLC of Medford Oregon, who has been in the business of selling and servicing BMW motorcycles since 1972. Between the fire that destroyed the facility in 2020 and changing family situations, it was more than Craig wanted to be responsible too.

The motorcycle came out of Ashland where it has been owned since 2006 and appears to be extremely stock and untampered with. The paint on all of the body work is factory with expected blemishes and marks that go along with 50 years of riding. There appears to be an upgraded fork spring and adjuster looking down at the upper triple clamp, other than that, everything appears to be stock items from when the bike was sold new. The seat has been replaced with an aftermarket look alike unit. There is a second seat and a box of spare parts that go with the bike. The previous owner was a member of the Southern Oregon Vintage Motorcycle Club and that is the history we were given.

The current owner of the bike bought it from their long time customer at Hansen’s BMW. The new owner knew the service history and the method the owner kept up with its needs over the years. As mentioned previously, Hansen’s is closed the bike is being sold to fund a new start for the present owner of the bike. His intentions were never to sell the bike but to enjoy a short wheelbase /5 motorcycle in such original condition. He did add new tires front and rear, but never had the chance to ride it after installing them except to get it home. The hard bags are Wixom and were pin stripped in the day to match the factory paint.

I rode the bike briefly and it is definitely the way back machine it appear as. It is almost electric smooth when idling and everything works normally. If I were to voice an opinion, it has some of the strongest front brakes of a /5 I can remember riding. They were not normally up to the standard of the rest the bike when new!
