If I could fill the shop with BMW RT’s of all different years and Suzuki SV650’s, we would never sell anything else. Both bikes are workhorses with different purposes, but the best in their individual rider experiences.

This 1998 BMW R1100RT is not only a great bike, it has been run through Hansen’s BMW for a “service everything” treatment recently. Only a BMW owner could understand why, just before selling his beloved motorcycle spending half of what he was going to get in return to make things right. He wanted to make sure that who ever bought his bike would get it in the best condition it could be offered. The bill, which is posted in our images, is over $1,700. It is true devotion to a mount that has served him so well, the end of a riding career that has finally reached it’s time. Going out on top, we should all be that wise.

Back to the bike and trailer. The trailer! A UNI-GO Classic originally from New Zealand. The trailers are being offered with the Classic model selling for $2,495 and the hitch at $325 currently. Color matching is another $450. Known for tracking perfectly inline with your bike, they follow the best lines. Uni-Go’s lean with the bike into the corners. It has minimal effect on fuel consumption by towing in the bike’s slipstream as it is no wider than the bike – wherever it fits, so does the trailer (a side note, great for lane splitting..)

The R1100RT was the first of the “Oil-Heads” versions of the new design and was a giant leap for BMW touring. Of course it had Headed Grips and ABS Brakes but it also featured an electronically adjustable Windscreen and Fuel Injection. These were the first of the bikes to have the Telelever Front Suspension designed as an anti-dive fixture and Paralever anti-squat rear suspension. The motorcycle was the first expression of the modern BMW Twin, most of these features being offered still today as standard with obvious refinement over the following models.

With 59,293 miles on the clock, it is “Just broken in” as Craig Hansen likes to say. Cosmetically, it is in very good order with a couple of “beauty marks” on it from being ridden, but it is a great bike with make more miles and stories ahead of it. Add fuel and be gone!

Miles are 59,293 and the VIN# WB10418A9WZC64538. The selling price is $4,295. For other interesting bikes and collectable vehicles, visit our web site http://www.automaniagp.com 541 479 8888 or come by and see us at 895 SE Gladiola Drive, Grants Pass, Oregon, 97526. Oregon Dealer DA1287.
