BMW must have been adding something to the water cooler when they started naming bike models. The same 798cc engine has been installed in F650’s, F700’s and F800 bikes. Why they called it different numbers in the name is still a mystery to me and confusing considering the G650 range of bikes was a single 648cc engine that had nothing in common with our bike. And so…
The 2011 BMW F650 is a 798cc Twin and that is what this bike is. The GS version has longer suspension travel, different wheels and tires, 19 inch in front and 17 inch in the back was ready for almost any adventure thrown its way compared to other F800 street oriented models. The motors have a great reputation for longevity and durability and with maintenance, have been known to run way over 100,000 miles, more than most riders will ever see. One of the pluses to the model range was the saddle not being incredibly tall, making it acceptable to smaller riders looking for stability and being able to flat foot it.
Our particular bike has been serviced at Hansen’s and is wearing a brand new Heidenau Rear Tire. It wears a heavy duty Skid Plate and Guards along with the expandable Factory Luggage and Tail Trunk. There is a Tank Bag ready to hold your Map and needed smaller items along with a taller ZTechnik Windscreen.
