Wow, a 2018 BMW R nine T Urban G/S!! As the owner of a 1981 R80GS, I was excited to see what BMW had in mind using the R nine T platform to create a simpler GS using what many consider the best BMW Twin engine ever, the twin cam Oil Head. How cool is this!
Like the original R80GS, most Urban G/S owners aren’t likely buying the bike as a long-distance tourer or goat trail adventure bike. It can be done, but it is a lot of work and maybe something more specific would be better suited. What this is a tug at the heart, evoking strong memories of a simpler time and designs with just the right amount of practicality to make it all true. For local use, runs up a mountain pass or on gravel roads I cannot think of a more fun bike to ride.
Our seller bought the bike with the idea of heading on the “long adventure” but realized luggage and long distances between fill ups were looming on the ride horizon. Great plan, perfect motorcycle, just not a practical choice this time.
