1968 marked the release of the record making V7 from Moto Guzzi, some say the model saved the company in the day. Forty years later, Moto Guzzi brought out the new version of the bike to compete with the likes of the Triumph Bonneville and soon to follow BMW R9T retro models with modern amenities such as fuel injection and disk brakes. Simple bikes without the bling, but good frameworks and price points that allowed owners creativity with the bikes without major hacking or structural changes.
The V7 is a 750cc Air Cooled example of Moto Guzzi’ trademark V-Twin engine with out the expense and complication of water cooling with good brakes, good suspension and modern size tires. It was an introductory model, one a buyer could introduce themselves to the Motor Guzzi family of bikes without breaking the bank. Job well done along with the Bonneville, Thruxton and R9T bikes building a simple bike that ran under stressed and without much complaint. The V7 weighs in about 400 pounds and stock has a low seating position.
Our 2014 V7 Stone had the magic wand of after market goodies passed over it petty clearly. The bike was lowered by the selling Seattle Dealer an inch by raising the fork tubes in the triple clamps and adding a set of lowered Progressive rear shocks to the back. A set of Clip-on Handle Bars were installed along with a set of Shorty levers and the first set of Rear Sets I have seen on a V7. The overall riding stance is very close to the Triumph Thruxton with quite a bit of weight on the bars and the foot pegs set back. All of the stock parts were retained and come with the motorcycle.
