2014 Moto Guzzi California 1400 Touring

By 2014, the Moto Guzzi California 1400 Touring’s 1380cc motor, the largest-ever V-twin from Europe at the time, was a huge improvement over the previous Guzzi V-Twins. Horse power was up 24 horsepower over the previous power plant along with a higher redline of 7000 rpm, it was ready to haul the mail!
Before looking at the features of the bike, the stance and look of the bike are spectacular. This is one of those bikes that people, even non-motorcyclists, walk over and start a conversation. The Gas Tank is molded around the Cylinder Heads on each side and looking at the bike straight on reminds you of aircraft from long ago. It really does have presence right off the bat and then there is the practical side, the mechanical and electronic features.
The entire California line was redesigned and brought up to the current state of electronic features in the industry. Different drive modes were available, Pioggia (rain), Turismo (touring) and Veloce (fast) with huge differences between the three levels of control and power delivery. The bike, in the Veloce Mode is ready for stop light events which is a surprise coming from this cruiser style motorcycle. The Custom was also equipped with adjustable Traction Control dialed in by using the handle bar mounted mode control switch on the clutch side. The gas tank holds 5.4 gallons of fuel and at 40mpg, it should be good for 180 miles before switching on the reserve light.
