1939 Ford '39 Convertible
Price: $29,995 USD - PREVIOUSLY SOLD
This 1939 Ford Convertible fiberglass car came to us with very limited information about the build and history of the original owner. The body appears to be a Wescott’s product, which today would put you back about $27,000 if you were ordering new. The chassis appears to be of a great design, using Mustang 11 components and a Ford Rear End. The engine is a mildly built 350 Chevy backed by a 350 Turbo Automatic Transmission, disk brakes in front, drums in the back.
The interior is really nice with what appears to be Vintage Air under the dash. The Steering Column is most likely GM with Tilt and Gear Indicator in their normal spots. There are power windows and operating the manual top is a piece of cake. Took me all of five minutes to figure out and operate it. There is also a full Tonneau cover that snaps all the way to the base of the windshield. The speedometer shows 38,029 miles and it is reasonable to assume that these are the miles from when the car was built at least 20 years ago. The one item I noticed was the tires are date coded 20 years ago also and will need replacement before any serious driving is considered.
The AC blows cold and the car drives well, like a 25 year old Camaro in good order. There are no rattles or shakes, in fact, driving the car is absolutely effortless. It starts easily, the transmission is smooth as expected, the brakes are good and the AC blows cold.
There are no surprises getting down the road. It is a perfect Street Rod to take part in a Rod Run without a thought. If nothing else it will get a trophy for being driven the furthest distance, if that was what it had just done.
Our customer bought the car about seven years ago and treated it to a local paint job. $10,000 later it was this beautiful burgundy that you see in the images today. For a build done a bit ago, it really does not show those years when you are first meeting it or driving down the street. It is just a great driver that brings a smile to anyone who sees it go by with the top down and the sound of that Small Block Chevy.
Our selling price is $29,995. The VIN# is SCPHPT503460 and the clean, unbranded title is for a 1939 Ford. Miles are 38,019. Please come by and see at Automania LLC, 895 SE Gladiola Drive, Grants Pass, OR 97526. http://www.automaniagp.com 541 479 8888 Oregon Dealer DA1287.
