2004 Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom

The DL1000 V-Strom is powered by one of my favorite engines that originally found a home in the TL1000 series of bikes included it’s self in a couple of Bimotas. Great motor, great power delivery and with normal up keep, bullet proof. The V-Strom probably has a church named after it as most long time owners swear by it as being the Swiss Army knife of motorcycles and tough as nails to boot. The bikes were not overly complicated, packed all of the engineered features of most current ADV bikes, but none of the frills, bells and whistles that the Europeans insisted on making standard. Less stuff going on, less stuff to fail and who could beat the bang for the buck cost?
This particular bike, a 2004 DL1000, was purchased new by it’s owner and outfitted to his touring needs, including a set of Givi Saddle Bags and their Trunk Box. Electric hand warmers were added in along with a set of auxiliary lights, both operated by toggle switches mounted on the upper fairing. There is a tall after market Windscreen, Head Light Guards and factory Crash Bars to finish it up, all the parts needed for extended road trips and touring.
The big difference to this bike and any other V-Strom is the Bike Log that accompanies it since rolling out of the dealership. Every ounce of fuel, every service, every after market part is part of a complete trip diary that included mileage, destination and fuel economy for each and every trip. From Day 1!
