The buyer, now seller of this 2001 Aprilia Falco called the shop on a rainy day in January of 2010, made a deal, gave his address in Alaska and said he would be there in the morning. Did I mention it was raining cats and dogs that week?

You could call me Mister Blue if you thought I believed he was serious, you know, holding my breath and sitting in the corner waiting for him to turn up.
But he did with all his gear after an all night flight to Medford. Never underestimate the love of riding a motorcycle!

We finished the sale and watched him ride into the rain on a Tuesday. A week later he returned looking like a drown rat, but he had a huge grin on his mug. Twelve years on, Bill has flown down about twice a year to ride his bike, covering more roads in Oregon, California and Washington than anyone I know has.

Time goes on and the time has arrived to sell his bike. It now has 22,473 miles on it, 12,000 more than when he picked up in 2010. Along the way it has gained a couple of travel scars, one of which I am responsible for. Bill came down one spring for a ride and we both noticed his tires were worn. I had a set of Dunlap GP track only tires lying around that we installed (which I forgot require tire warmers before use to bring them up to operating temperature). Well, the first cool morning start for Bill lasted to the first corner. The left side got some rash, but it was very slow and the trip was not interrupted. Hansen’s did the minor service work on it, Bill did the oil changes when needed. Tires are now about 50% in the rear, 70% in the front. The battery is new.

This is my write up from 2010:

“Once in awhile, a bike comes in that is just so beautiful, I know that any pictures I take of it are not going to do it justice. The 2001 Aprilia model of the Falco is the same bike they built through 2004 which for an Aprilia sold in good numbers. This bike comes with the Aprilia Factory Carbon. There are a set of saddle bags that attach to the bike if touring is part of your plan. It is cosmetically perfect, the tires look like they have at least 80% of their thread left and it sounds like only a big displacement twin with pipes can sound, deep and wonderful. Miles are just over 10,000. The bike looks expensive and it is rare in the Southern Oregon. If you are looking for something that is going to stand out amongst the other Japanese bikes around, here is a way to do it for a reasonable cost. The selling price is $5895.”

The selling price is $2,465. The VIN# is ZD4PAC0011S100017 and miles are 22,473. Please come by and see at Automania LLC, 895 SE Gladiola Drive, Grants Pass, OR 97526. http://www.automaniagp.com 541 479 8888 Oregon Dealer DA1297.
