We sold this bike earlier this spring and it spent most of it’s time in the shop due to work and life. The new owner managed to put 347 miles on it and called the other day to ask us to find a new home once again. Here we go! This is the write up for the bike when we had it previously. Obviously, it is now a two owner bike.
“Picking up this brilliantly stock 2004 Ducati 749 Dark was a tough one. This one owner bike showed 5,785 miles from new and had always been a second bike for when the owners were not riding together on their Harley. The sad part was why the bike is being sold, a debilitating medical issue that rang home with me. As part of an aging group of riders that can honestly say “The older I get, the Faster I used to be”, it is the inevitable decision. For him, it had become impossible to hold the bars and it is time for sale.
The 749 is a brilliant motorcycle. It is light, powerful and being a Ducati Twin, is one of the most tractable engine designs pushed into a Trellis Frame known. Twins make torque, twist basically, and the 749cc water cooled Desmodromic valvetrain made tons. Because of it’s engine size, it has less gyroscopic effects bigger engines with larger internal reciprocating parts suffer from. It is the perfect package for the skilled and less skilled riders alike.”
Tires are almost new and it has been recently serviced at Hansen’s BMW and is ready for some great riding. Miles are 6,105 and the VIN# is ZDM1UB3S04B004582. The selling price is $4,995.
