2018 Ducati SCR 1100 Eleven Special

436 miles from new. Great way to start the description of this 2018 Ducati Scrambler 1100, but that is the most striking thing about the bike, regardless of what model or make it is. It is almost brand new.
The Scrambler line of Ducati was such a big event when it first arrived that there was even talk of separate dealers for the specific line. That quickly evaporated but it does speak to what Ducati was reaching for, basic motorcycles that did not require a FIM License to operate and a Bill Gate’s pocket book to maintain.
The 1100 took the basic Scrambler and reinvented the expression, “there’s no replacement for displacement” comparing it to the original model line of 800cc bikes. The engine is basically the air cooled transplant from the Monster, modified for the Scrambler but basically the same architecture. New to the model were Bosch Cornering ABS, Traction Control and Ducati Multimedia-ready. Our bike is the 1100 Special which came with factory equipped Wire Wheels and Lower Handle Bars.
Why does the bike have only 436 miles on it? Because the owner bought it for the esthetic quality, he loved the look and sound of the motor. What he did not take into account is that the riding position would be uncomfortable for his “Medicare” age station and the lack of Cruise Control. Go figure?
He did manage to install a Competition Werks Exhaust which does rattle a few windows as it goes by. He changed the Bar Ends and Mirrors, but all of the stock parts are included with the bike.
