2004 Porsche 911 "40 Jahre" Anniversary Edition 996
2004 was exactly 40 years since the first Porsche 911 was introduced in showrooms to the world and Porsche, never being shy about celebrating by creating a commemorative model, released the “40 Jahre” (Year) Anniversary model as a celebration and performance upgrade to the then current model 996 Carrera.
Stock, the 996 carried 310hp but with the X51 power package standard with the 40th Anniversary, that went up to 345hp. This feed through the only available transmission, the 6-Speed Manual, to a Limited Slip Differential supported by the normally optional Sport Suspension Package sitting on Shot Blasted and Polished 18” Wheels. Our car had the optional Red Brake Calipers factory ordered on top.
The interior got Aluminum Doorsills, nicely upgraded Leather heated Sport Seats, Aluminum Trimmed Gauges and the must have feature, the “40 Jahre” with specific Serial number, ours being 1,226 out of total build of 1,963 total. Also of note are the molded front seat backs and suede headliner of the car. Outstanding!
The exterior was a bit more obvious, with the “911 40 Jahre” script on the rear deck lid, polished tail pipes and the Turbo-Style Front treatment, all in Carrera GT Metallic Silver paint. Again the special “18” rims with model specific along with Bi-Xeon Headlights.
Adding everything up, reported 0-60 times were shaved by a tenth of a second and a full second faster to 120mph. It was also brought the new selling price to $90,565, along way from where these collectible cars sell for today.
Our car has had recent major services completed including a clutch replacement along with the IMS Bearing upgrade, done at the same time about 10,000 miles ago. Recently, during a routine service, anti-freeze was seen weeping on the right, front side of the car which eventually led to both front radiators being replaced. A safety was completed just prior to the car coming to the shop to be sold and all records are available for inspection. The front of the car has been covered with a “3M Clear Bra” as can be seen in the images, including the outside mirrors.
The VIN# WPO1129954S622070 and miles are 78,240. For other interesting bikes and collectable vehicles, visit our web site http://www.automaniagp.com 541 479 8888 or come by and see us at 895 SE Gladiola Drive, Grants Pass, Oregon, 97526. Oregon Dealer DA1287.
