The past few years there have been about eight square body GM Trucks that have had come through the shop, most of them very presentable with no issues to speak of. But in my opinion, this is the straightest GM that has been consigned to Automania LLC. It must have been incredibly stock and clean before the work was started because it is almost impossible to fault the bodywork. In the images, you can see the shut lines and panel gaps, they are as good as they were when the truck was sold new. The doors, normally with worn upper hinges that cause sagging, do not drop at all when they open. The truck is just that straight.

The truck was sold new in Myrtle Point, Oregon as you can see on the Warranty Information booklet. It comes with the original build sheet that was in the glove box showing the stock 6 cylinder 4.1 liter engine and factory 4-Speed which is still in place. Also in the glove box is the factory owner’s manual. The present owners bought the truck a few years back and did the Resto-Rod conversion, installing a 350 V-8 and doing the color change.

The history of the work is a bit vague as the husband who managed all of the work passed awhile back and his wife knew very little about what was done. The paint and bodywork happened years back at what was said to be a cost of over $10,000. It was a glass out, complete color change from the original factory blue. A Crate Motor 350 was installed and bolted to the stock factory 4-Speed and as you can see, the engine compartment presents just as well as the exterior bodywork. The interior was redone and again, as you can see in the images it is very presentable.

I drove the truck for images and it is a hoot. The transmission is not sports car slick, it is still a truck transmission but it is perfect for the motor. The truck was easy to drive and did everything well while sounding great. The best description I can offer of what the truck is and the work done is by looking at the images, top and bottom. It is a really neat GM Pickup.
