It is a rare event that an owner knows less about his car or truck than someone would know just looking at it, besides invoices found in a glove box. But here we are.

This 1964 Chevrolet C10 was purchased from a private party out of Camas, Washington in about 2009. A local Grants Pass contractor saw the C10 advertised on line, fell in love with it and bought it sight unseen. He had no idea what Engine was in it, if it had Power Steering or even Air Conditioning. He just loved the look. In fact, when it was first brought to the shop to be sold, I asked him if it had a Big Block. He had no idea except to say it was really ran well. The one thing he was smart about though, was always using a shop to maintain it over the years.

After being purchased in 2009, it was driven just twice locally in four years before being delivered to the Union Ave Garage in Grants Pass on 02/08/2013 for extensive upgrades and servicing. Their invoices show a new Flex Plate, Carburetor, Distributor, Fuel Pump and Actuating Rod, Heater Core, a general tune-up and oil change plus other items totaling $2,587 (the invoices are attached to the site).

According to the owner, the truck was driven only once after that. It sat in the garage under cover, sitting unused all of this time. An important issue is to note the Speedometer and Odometer are not working, never did. This is how he bought the truck in 2009, with the same mileage showing as today. There is no verifiable record of the miles since the truck was built originally or after being purchased. Even the work done in 2013 has no mileage record, only the information given to us by the owner.

So, what can I tell you about the truck having driven it, put it on the hoist and done a visual inspection? It is indeed a Big Block Chevrolet Engine. It has an Automatic but the Flex-Plate Shield under the truck is missing as can be seen in the images. The paint is good, looking underneath the truck there are areas that that show missed spots of color, but there is no rust, any signs of impact or previous damage. The chassis shows that the body was off during the build as you can see looking at the underside. It has Disc Brakes at all four corners with Cross Drilled Rotors. The engine compartment is dry and much time was spent painting the compartment surrounding panels. It does not have AC and the engine runs a stock front pulley set up. The rest of the engine is dressed up with Headers and Aluminum Valve Covers. The heater box is cracked, more then likely from when the heater core was replaced in 2013.

The body work is excellent, the doors straight and fit well. Gaps are good, the tail gate is really nice. Trim is excellent, all of the chrome is in good order. The paint is good but not show quality. It was a windows out paint job with great prep work but an 8/10 quality final paint application.

Driving the truck is a hoot. Way too much motor for a 2WD pickup and I should not have to explain why. Brakes are good, the suspension is based on the stock components and it drives very well for a 1964 ½ Ton Pickup. I loved driving the C10 but think buying stock in Goodyear or Bridgestone Tire Company would be a good idea.
