Rover began building Land Rovers in about 1947 based on a great design, available materials and drivetrain components they could economically use for assembly. Over the decades of Series 1, Series 11, Series 11A’s, Series 111’s, and most recently the Defender, they have evolved into different wheel bases from 86’s through 127’s. Wheel bases further identified model nomenclature as in the case of our 1997 Defender 90 (90 inches).

This British Racing Green Metallic Defender was purchased new in 1997 at the Oregon dealer, Land Rover of Portland (Don Rasmussen Company), and has been in the same ownership since. Recent years have seen limited use and now, with changing circumstances, selling is now their option. Miles are 42,820 and as you can see in the images, the truck has been driven, but well kept over the 23 years. The factory Rover convertible top is in good order, the interior almost without signs of use and in a separate bag, a Best Top Bimini Top. When the truck came to us it had the Rover Defender Seat Covers on the front two seats. We removed them to verify the condition of the underlying seat cushions, but they are included with the truck and in good order. The seats are without defect.

The tires were 18 years old with weather checking and our seller insisted on replacing them with the identical model and sizes. While having the tires installed, minor front end items were seen needing service which was attended too. New track rod bushings, steering damper and sway bar bushings were replaced and an alignment done.

Miles are 43,820, all driven by the original family. The past few years the truck was driven very little, kept in a detached shop next to the house here in Grants Pass. It is in excellent cosmetic condition with few minor signs of use. The front bumper shows a minor tweet, more likely a poor job parallel parking job than taking on an elk. The right front fender was repainted at one time, the rest appears to be factory finish. The winch head looks as if it never has been turned, the cable is unkinked and properly spooled. Tires are brand new, crankcase oil and filter have been changed, upholstery in very good order, the carpets show little wear or use. A 4-Wheel Drive Land Rover that probably has likely never been seriously off road, now just broken in, so to speak.
