I have recently been introduced to Orville (Orv) Elgie as a builder of well known, well engineered street rods through the 1947 Ford 2 Door Sedan that we are selling. Up till this point, the high standard of Street Rods we have consigned and sold have been local builders but this broadens our scope a bit, Orv being from Bend, three hours up the road.

Orv Elgie, I read, has built over 30 street rods over the years. His reputation is wide with his style of build, stock appearances but with modern drive trains and amenities, is much sought after. I will leave interested parties to do more research about him, rest assured his workmanship and engineering are without peer.

What is always a common factor in any of his cars is that he always starts with extremely original, good condition cars which he leaves in almost stock condition cosmetically, putting his serious efforts into modern chassis and drive trains. Body modifications are subtle, interiors are stock in appearance, dashes equipped with stock gauges. It allows us the pleasure of owning an early 50’s car or truck without the suffering of seventy year old engineering.

Along with the build sheet and receipt supplied by Orv are several NSRA Safety Inspections dating back to 2005. There is also a copy of the November, 2003 edition of Street Rod Builder Magazine in which the car has a four page spread talking about the Orv and the built. They take better images than I do!!!

Orv put about 12,000 miles on the car before selling it, doing a coast to coast trip when he first built the car. The balance of the almost 36,000 miles have been put on the car since by the next owners with fewer than 2,000 miles the past four years. The car is serviced and ready to go again, just add gas and a direction, you are set.
