1997 Hummer H1
Grants Pass, Oregon 97526
Price: $59,995 USD - PREVIOUSLY SOLD
LP got so excited that we actually sold one of his cars, he brought down the “Black Hummer” H1 he bought new in 1997 for us to sell. LP really put the miles on this one, a whole 6,978 miles from new. That’s right, less then 7,000 actual miles from when he took delivery of it for his wife. The truck is almost as good as it was the day he took it off the dealer’s lot. I did the obligatory cruise through down town Grants Pass and it is true, it draws more attention then the bright orange Lamborghini Superleggera we had last year. Reminded me riding in a wheel house on a boat, it is big! This is no H2 or H3, it is the real deal, are you listening Arnold?
The specs are all over the internet, but I have the original invoice from when it was sold new at Northwest Jeep Eagle Hummer in Portland, Oregon. It sold as the 4 passenger Wagon with the 6.5 8-Cyl GM Turbo Diesel, 1GC package, heated windshield, CD Changer, AC with Auxiliary Air/Heat, power windows, brush guard, tow package, Power Package, Runflat Tire System with built in bead lock, 12,000 winch and dual fuel tanks. I am pretty sure LP hit all of the boxes on the build sheet when he ordered the H1. MRSP was over $85,000.
LP is close to emptying the shop and the H1 was going to be one of the last to go. If you considered buying one when they were available and new, but missed out on the chance to do so, this is your reprieve. It has not been modified, hoodified, gentrified or blingified. It is as it came from AMG in 1997 and does everything it did when it rolled off the lot. The dash AC does a so-so job but the auxiliary unit in the back could cool a school bus. I doubt the truck has ever been off the pavement, the underside has no scares and the tires look used but not torn up. LP did confess to missing his driveway on the day we had snow four years ago as he was going down hill. He learned the hard lesson that 4WD works great up hill, but down hill all bets are off. He tore up his lawn, but that was the only time he could recall leaving the pavement with the Hummer. The trenches from the tires are still visible as a reminder of how momentum works.
There are a couple of small rock chips on the front of the truck but there are no other marks I can see anywhere. The plastic seat covers are still attached to the frames on the rear seats. The truck is in great cosmetic shape so come by and take a look. The selling price is $59,995.
