The 2002 Maranello 575M replaced what was an outstanding car, the front engine V-12 placement 550M introduced in 1996. There were substantial improvements mechanically, including bigger brake discs, a larger and more powerful engine, 19-inch wheels and tires, a different weight distribution, refined aerodynamics and fluid-dynamics and an adaptive suspension set-up (the four independent suspensions are also controlled by the gearbox, to minimize pitch throughout the 200-milliseconds shift time). From the outside, there was hardly a noticeable difference in exterior appearance. All of the 550 series cars were manual transmissions, but with the 575, the F1 Electro-hydraulic manual transmission was offered as an option for the first time.

The engine was an enlarged 5.7-liter V-12 that generated 515 horsepower. This was through higher compression ratios and an enhanced intake to contribute to the added performance. Using technology derived from world championship auto racing, Ferrari introduced a Formula 1-syle electro-hydraulic gearbox. The F1 transmission features steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters with an automated clutch, leaving only two pedals.

While doing research on the car, some in the past complained about the available paddle shifters, but this is still a front-engine V-12 Ferrari Grand Tourer, the cars that made Ferrari great. Paddle shifters were new in those days and they were slighted by sluggish automatics with paddles pretending to be sporty and expensive, which they were not. The 575M received some grief for it, but as a Grand Touring Ferrari, it is supposed to be comfortable without being intimating, which it succeeded massively.

This particular car is a four owner from new and was ordered with the following options: Red Brake Calipers, Daytona Style Seat, “Scuderia Ferrari” Shields, Leather Rear Shelf and F1 Electronic Gear from Ferrari. We have examined the car on the ground and then on the hoist. It is accident free and shows no signs of impact of damage repair. The underside shows very well for the miles showing with no corrosion or fluid leaks anywhere.

This 2002 has 24,772 miles from new with receipts for major services just completed at 23,935. Services included new timing belts, tensioners, fluids, filters, spark plugs and gear oil, less than 1,000 miles ago. Our seller recently purchased a brand new, in the bag, factory tool kit for the car. This along with the factory manual and car cover make for a complete package leaving little to add.

The market value for Ferrari front engine V-12 cars has been strong in recent years with no slowing down against the softening trend of most collectable cars in today’s market. There were 2,056 Maranello built, not 100,000 cars as in the case of Porsche 911’s and 356’s market values, which have been so very strong. Sports Car Market’s Spring 2017 value guide shows the average Maranello 575M at auction selling at $175,000. Discount that by 20% for the cost of using the auction arena and you have a realistic retail value of $140,000 with a potential upside in the near future. Included with the car is the original window sticker and one key.

Check out our website for copies of the clean Carfax and Auto Check report. The VIN# is ZFFBV55A020126971 and the miles from new are 24,772. The car is equipped with all of the stock intake and exhaust parts in place. The selling price is $112,995.
