1929 Ford Model A for sale

1929 Ford Model A
Grants Pass, Oregon 97526
Price: $16,695 USD - PREVIOUSLY SOLD

How many times have you been excited after driving a car? They all do the same thing, start, stop, climate controlled, push the right pedal, it goes, push the other pedal it stops. Great radio, power windows, think we are jaded a bit with how well things work.

Then there is this 1929 Model A. It should have personalized plates that say “SMILE”. That’s what it does every time you look at it, every time you start it, every time you drive down the driveway. Oh, and everyone else is smiling, or waving, even following you to find out what year it is (while I was taking images, for the first time, two separate cars stopped to say what a great looking car it was).

This is the third stock Model A we have had. None of them have created the same feeling or reaction. None of them drove this well, none of them were this fun to be in, aim down the road and I cannot tell you exactly why. But it is true, this Model A is fun. Been awhile since I drove a fun car that made everyone else smile.

We got a call from a gentleman in Sacramento recently who saw the car for sale. He gave us the story of the car and more information then we had received from our seller.

The car was found in Truckee, California in 1979 by a Model A hobbyist who had mechanical experience and recognized what the car was. It was in fact a Briggs bodied Blind Back Ford, a rather rare A. Bodies were built by Briggs or Murphy for Ford and Briggs are much scarcer these days. He rebuilt the engine, adding a B head. The transmission was gone through as well as the rear end and brakes. The body was in excellent condition and at the time, only the shell was painted, not the fenders, done in lacquer. The car was featured in the 1980 Model A magazine with the owner dressed with his buddies in Key Stone Cop customs.

Unfortunately, issues arose and the car was sold at the Turlock Swap Meet about ten years ago. The new owner kept it here in Grants Pass until selling it once again to the present owner who had the top and interior done this year by Greg’s Upholstery.
Starting is instant, turn on the fuel, retard the ignition, give it a little hand throttle, make sure you are in neutral, push the started button over the gas pedal with your right foot and off it lites. If this was a modern car and I hit the brakes, I would park immediately, but they are mechanical and work, you just need to respect what you are driving and act accordingly.

The selling price is $16,695. For other interesting bikes and collectable vehicles, visit our web site http://www.automaniagp.com 541 479 8888 or come by and see us at 895 SE Gladiola Drive, Grants Pass, Oregon, 97526. Oregon Dealer DA1287.
