How many times have you been excited after driving a car? They all do the same thing, start, stop, climate controlled, push the right pedal, it goes, push the other pedal it stops. Great radio, power windows, I think we are s bit jaded with how well we have come to expect things to work.

Then there is this 1930 Model A. It should have personalized plates that say “SMILE”. That’s what it does every time you look at it, every time you start it, every time you drive down the driveway. Oh, and everyone else is smiling, or waving, even following you to find out what year it is. In fact while I was taking images, two separate cars stopped to ask about it

This is the eight stock Model A we have had. None of them have created the same feeling or reaction. This particular car drove differently than the others we have had, it is absolutely stock, down to the mechanical brakes. I cannot tell you exactly why driving the car was so great. But the truth is, driving a Model A is just plain fun.

This car is interesting. It was bought by a Model A Hot Rod builder for a future project because the body was in such good shape. The doors are not rotted out on the bottom and normal problem areas were not an issue. The paint is coming off in several spots, looks like it was repainted a long, long time ago. The problem the builder had was that the car was in such great shape, he decided he wanted to drive it for awhile.

That is where it started to go wrong. After a few miles, the motor proceeded to implode and leak oil. Not being bound by the common characteristics that normal car owners exhibit, he pulled it out and had it completely rebuilt it using another block and head. For him, it was just another mechanical journey to experience, rebuilding a Model A motor.

When it was all finished and back in the car, he started it up, drove down the street and then parked it in storage about two years ago. Which is where it sat until he lost his storage about a month ago. With no room for his numerous projects, he has brought the A down for us to sell.

Two things need attention that we are working on. The Generator Cut Off was shorted and draining the new battery. One of the Hub Caps fell off while I was driving it down the street. We have both items headed this way and they will be on the car by the time you are reading this. They do show up missing in the images.
