A dozen or so Model A-V8’s later, Dave Hamilton has brought us his last Hemi Hot Rod, the last of the four 392’s that we have sold over the past ten years. Each build has fine tuned a narrow part of his specific theme, a late 50’s or early 60’s Hot Rod, built with period drive trains in 28-31 Model A’s while using modern techniques and developments.

I shot a video of Dave talking about the build (down at the bottom, under the images), where and who was involved and it is a great vision of the car being offered. A word that colored this build was “attitude” expressed by the biggest, loudest engine he could fit in the confines of his theme build, the 392 Chrysler Hemi. Everything else was intended to support the engine, the 4” Chop of the roof, the color, the stance, even the wheels and tires.

Dave gave me a list of the parts and pieces that went into the build and you can hear him describe and it is written below. As always, a great build done by a talented guy who loves building cars. The car is not for everyone, but there is no denying it as a Hot Rod or the statement it makes driving by or being parked.

Dave started with an original Model A all steel body he bought out of Roseburg which he chopped 4” before adding custom cut tempered glass to the doors and rear window. He added the following starting with the chassis.

1. Blackboard Hot Rod Frame
2. Chassis Engineering Front End Assembly
3. Posies Front Spring
4. SoCal Front Hair Pins
5. Pete and Jakes Front Disk Brakes
6. 195/15 BF Goodrich tires on Reverse Chrome Rims
7. Currie 4:11 Rear End: Alloy Axles, Yukon Locker
8. Pete & Jakes Ladder Bars
9. Posies Rear Spring
10. 285/15 BF Goodrich tires on Reverse Chrome Rims
11. 700R4 Automatic Transmission with 2200 rpm stall converter and shift kit build by John Harman
12. Low Car Shifter
13. Stainless Steel Brake Lines
14. Corvette Master Brake Cylinder
15. 1957 392 Chrysler Hemi Bored .030 over, built by Peckham Precision Engines
16. Hot Heads Oiling System
17. Hot Heads Timing Cover
18. Hot Heads Valley Cover
19. Hot Heads Transmission Adapter
20. Big Block Chevrolet Water Conversion
21. O’Brien Truckers Valve Covers
22. Vintage Wieand Dual Quad Manifold
23. Dual Edelbrock AVS-2 Carburetors
24. Lake Style Headers, Sara Coated
25. MDS Distributor
26. Walker Radiator
27. Cooling Components Radiator Fan
28. 18 Gallon Aluminum Gas Tank
29. A-N Fuel System Fittings

The Tuck and Roll interior was completed by Greg’s Upholstery here in Grants Pass which included not only the seats and door panels, but the interior roof as well. Stewart Gauges fill the dash along with a Ididit Steering Column. Paint was applied at Dave’s Body shop by a now retired painter-artist guy named Chris who also was responsible for painting the frame. The color is a late model Chrysler gold in a matt finish. The rear deck lid was louvered within an inch of collapsing, they could not fit a single one anywhere. In closing, the tail lights are 1950 Pontiac which now possibly concludes everything Dave could remember as he headed out towards his well earned retirement.
