1929 Ford Model A Pickup

Been awhile since I drove a fun car that made everyone else smile. The take away I got from driving the car is, you better have slowed yourself down long before getting in the cab. Nothing, I mean nothing, happens quickly when you operate a Model A. Starting, the steering, the transmission, the power delivery and finally, as you realize there is a good reason headed towards you, the brakes. But that defines the charm of owning and driving an A. It makes demands and you follow its lead. Over 80 years old and a sharp reminder of our expectations in the day.
Starting is instant, turn on the fuel, retard the ignition, give it a little hand throttle, make sure you are in neutral, push the started button over the gas pedal with your right foot and off it lites. If this was a modern car and I hit the brakes, I would park immediately, but they are mechanical and work, you just need to respect what you are driving and act accordingly.
At some recent point in time, the truck was completely refurbished. Looking at the underside, it would appear that most or all of the body is new medal or was in incredibly good condition before work was started. Look at the images, it almost looks new. The motor and transmission have minor leaks, but for a Model A, you would call it “bone dry”. The radiator spits a little, but they all do. The interior is a bit of a deviation from stock. The seats appear in modern fabric and pattern along with safety belts added. Acknowledgements to modern times are the added blinkers. 16” Wheels improve the drive quality dramatically. The paint was professionally applied, the wood work excellent and over all, it is hard to find a downside to any of the work completed.
