This 1923 Ford Model T Roadster is the on going project of a good customer whose wife has ordered him to clear the garage out or it is the couch for him. The car was started in 2005 by an older guy who developed health issues after buying all the parts and had to sell it unfinished. The present owner assembled it and then followed in the steps of every hot rod builder I have ever met, never “finished” it.
The first words out of Jimmy’s mouth were when I asked him what he meant by that was, “They are never finished, there is always something new to add”. I can see why his wife had too put her foot down.
This the grocery list of parts in the car. Most of the parts were bought from Summit Racing and Total Performance Inc. The make of the fiberglass body is unknown. The frame, front hydraulic shocks, shock mounts, upper steering arm, tie rod ends, draglinks, radius rods, deluxe tan top and foot controls are all from Total Performance Inc. The front brakes are disk, the rears are drums. It has a 9” Ford rear end along with 3 Speed Turbo 350 Hydro Transmission with a B&M Shift Kit with kick down. The shifter is a B&M with Reverse lockout. The engine is a 350 Chevy that was built about 1980 with a mild ¾ camshaft and 10:1 compression. On top are two 500 CFM Eldelbrock Carburetors feed by a Street Tunnel Ram. The idea behind the engine was to provide lots of grunt but be streetable. Jimmy loves cruises and has won numerous awards including longest distance traveled at one event.
The car is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition. It has been driven to numerous shows and is no trailer queen. The selling price is $19995.
