38 years ago, when I had the need to have a haircut, Harvey and his wife were the go to couple here in Grants Pass for a trim. Harvey was also a car fanatic which worked out well as I was running a large shop here in town and I never paid for a hair cut nor did anyone else in the shop. Those were good days, at least in my rear view mirror.

Harvey continued on with his car obsessions as I got away from repair and rumor had it that he bought a Ford Thunderbird sometime in the 90’s if I recall. He spent most of his free time working on the car cosmetically, my guess is that it took him at least ten years to get it finished. He and his wife loved the car, it was the ultimate ride for him despite a garage full of other exotic, in need of repairs cars he massage back into working order. I never quite understood his passion or how he kept his finger nails quite so clean.

Time takes no prisoners and Harvey’s time came a few years back. His wife could not even think of parting with the car until just recently. She finally accepted that it would eventually need work from just sitting and Harvey was not here to keep it going. We talked about six months ago and she finally brought it by. And now, you know almost as much about the car as I do.

The condition is very good cosmetically. The chrome appears to have all been redone or new parts.. The VIN Plate, riveted on the passenger side firewall (as seen in the images) reads:

Serial No. D7FH151021
Body Color Trim Production Code
40 VV XH 27L7203141

From this, it was a D code car with a 312 V8, 4 Barrel Carburetor. It is a Convertible and the 151,021’st unit built on November 27, 1957 at the Dearborn plant. The trim code shows the factory paint to be Flame Red with Trim code Flame Red.

Harvey did all of the bodywork himself and it is extremely presentable. He obviously had the interior work done, but again I could not find a record of who did it here in town. The hardtop is installed and I have not inspected the convertible top that can be seen partially behind the seats.

I drove the car and was almost shocked at how well it went at Freeway speeds. Everything worked smoothly and it was an easy car to control with no surprises or bad behavior. As you can see from the underside, Harvey did not spend a lot of time shinning up the undercarriage, but there are no signs of rust or impact. The car should be ready for miles of pleasant cruising and touring. If there are mechanical questions, please do not hesitate to arrange a pre-purchase inspection but other than normal wear, it does not seem to have any immediate needs that would prevent enjoying driving around in a 1957 T-Bird with the top down.

The selling price is $28,495. VIN# D7FH151021 and miles showing are 82,771. For other interesting bikes and collectable vehicles, visit our web site http://www.automaniagp.com , 541 479 8888 or come by and see us at 895 SE Gladiola Drive, Grants Pass, Oregon, 97526. Oregon Dealer DA1287
