When I saw the Cadillac XLR for the first time, I swore I would drive one before being confined to a walker, knowing it would be that long before I could afford a new, $76,000 car. As it was based on the Corvette Chassis, with a North Star OHC 4.6 V-8 and GM’s first generation Electronic Active Suspension, it had to be the ultimate American understated Luxury Hot Rod.

They added Cadillac’s great interior design and the coolest retractable Hard Top you’ll ever see. The XLR was to be mounted on the new for 2005 Corvette chassis which was strong and light. In fact, the XLR was even assembled in the Corvette plant at Bowling Green, Kentucky. New aluminum sub-frames were added to accommodate the XLR body, adding about 1 inch overall to the wheelbase.

Cadillac added the 4.6-liter Northstar, DOHC V8 from their product line. It was smooth, quiet and powerful. With double overhead-cams, variable valve timing and electronic throttle control, it produces 320 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. It was followed up the five-speed 5L50 Automatic Transmission, perfectly suited to the power characteristics of the Northstar. For the weight and size of the car, it was a good fit for the needs of this Cadillac Sport Coupe/ Convertible.

The owner of the car provided services records from Roe Motors (the local Cadillac dealer) dating back to 2007. Prior to be brought in for sale, the car was inspected by Roe Motors which including brake pad replacement and an oil change service.
